LVT & LVP Tile Cutting

Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) are the fastest-growing products in the flooring industry. They are fairly easy to install if you have the right tools. For relatively easy installation a tile cutter is highly recommended. Tile cutters come in all different price ranges depending on how thick of a tile they are able to cut, the width of tile they are able to cut, and add ons that allow for trimming plank sides and corners. A good tile cutter will cost around $350.

If you have a thinner glue-down plank under 4mm in board thickness, you can probably get by with a $30 cutter. These cutters do not have the ability to trim the sides of tiles if they are too long, and have no hardware for easy angle cuts.

The core of the board is also a factor in tile cutting. A stone composite plank (SCP) is going to need a stronger blade than a loose flexible plank. Be sure to read the manufacturer’s guidelines for product ability. Investing in a quality cutter will guarantee an easier installation.
